SURVIVAL, TRANSFORMATION, & WONDER
The butterflies’ journey begins in two very different corners of the world: the ancient Daintree rainforest of Australia, home of the Blue Tigers, and the vast wild forests of Canada, where the Monarchs take flight . Their migrations span continents, weather systems, predators, and human‑altered landscapes.
In Angangueo, Mexico, a local father and daughter eagerly await the Monarchs’ arrival—a sacred moment when the butterflies are believed to carry the spirits of ancestors back to the living. But this year, the skies are empty. Where are the butterflies?
The film gently explores this mystery while celebrating the resilience of these tiny travelers and the ecosystems that depend on them.
CUTTING-EDGE
To reveal the butterflies’ world in all its detail, the filmmakers used:
- High‑speed slow‑motion cameras
- Precision macro cinematography
- Aerial drone systems
- Large‑format giant‑screen capture
These tools allowed the team to film metamorphosis, flight, and migration in ways never before seen on the giant screen. The result is an intimate, awe‑inspiring look at creatures whose lives are usually too short and too fast for the human eye to follow.
The production team traveled across the world to capture the butterflies’ story:
- Australia’s tropical far‑north coast
- The ancient Daintree rainforest
- The jungles of Costa Rica
- The forests of Canada
- The mountains of Mexico
Each location reveals a different facet of the butterflies’ lives—and the delicate ecosystems that rely on them.
A JOURNEY TO CONNECT YOU WITH NATURE
Where Ocean Wonders connects you to the ocean, Resolution connects you to each other, and The Stellars connects families, Butterfly Journey connects you to the quiet, cyclical rhythms of the natural world.
It’s gentle.
It’s beautiful.
It’s full of wonder.
And it’s a reminder of how deeply interconnected our world truly is.
